"We are a strong opposition , but at the same time we continue to work for the city and for the people" - with these words, Anton Hekimyan began the report of the GERB-SDS Group in SOS before the party leader Boyko Borisov, the regional coordinator of GERB-Sofia Daniela Raicheva, people's representatives, regional coordinators, members and sympathizers of the party in the capital.
"We held over 50 coordination meetings related to the work of the Municipal Council; we are submitters and co-sponsors of over 100 reports; we held over 200 meetings with citizens, open receptions; meetings with representatives of business and various branches and last but not least – dozens of volunteer initiatives. The results of the elections are definitive: thanks to our joint work, GERB is regaining the trust of the people in Sofia," said Hekimyan, quoted by BNT.
"There is no protest that we are afraid to go to, unlike the PP-DB-SS, who are hiding. Citizens look to us to solve problems and share their frustration with the rulers. We are close to the people", he added.
GERB leader Boyko Borisov emphasized how much he and Yordanka Fandakova have done for Sofia as mayors of the capital.
In his words, the traffic in Sofia is due not only to poorly planned repairs, but also due to the fact that no work is being done to complete the Ring Road.
"GERB-SDS cannot be a fiercer opposition than Boris Bonev, because we got to the point that "Save Sofia" they want to save us from Vasil Terziev. Bonev complained on TV that Vanya Grigorova's complaints against the fairness of the mayoral elections were not respected, and rightly so. He knows they stole the election. Therefore, show the people that we don't want to rule Sofia for our own sake, but because we can and know how," said the GERB leader.
Boyko Borisov rated "excellent 6" for the work of GERB-Sofia. "You implemented dozens of receptions for citizens, renovated our offices in all areas. Thanks to all these efforts in the last year, you managed to restore the citizens' trust in GERB in the capital", he also commented.
Chairman of the Committee on Public Order and Security Vanya Tagareva pointed out that Sofia has become a place of unrest. "In the last year, we had to be on the streets, together with the citizens who call us for support. In the Committee for Public Order and Security, we have over 700 signatures from the citizens of the capital regarding their problems. A few days ago, I also contacted the prosecutor's office, because the deputy director chief architect Panayotova wants to deprive the people of the "Pancharevo" area from sewage, a project we have been working on since 2012. Over 5,000 people will be affected by this act. The situation in Sofia is complicated, but we are focused on saving our city", Tagareva said categorically.
The Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance Dimitar Vuchev started with the question "How does 600 million sound" and added that this is a colossal amount, which turns out to be that much available in the accounts of the Metropolitan Municipality. Vuchev mentioned another figure – 40% - this is the implementation of the capital program for 2024, for comparison, when GERB managed the weakest year in the implementation of the capital program, the percentage was 62.
"22% difference in one year of Vasil Terziev's administration, when you consider that of this 40%, a large part are projects started during GERB's time and are only being completed. You understand what their second year is going to be – shocking if things keep up at this rate! We have to come into sharper opposition, because it is obvious that whatever we offer them for the development of the city – they cannot fulfill it", Vuchev was categorical.
Chairman of the Culture Commission Miroslav Borshosh shared that the GERB-SDS report was actually presented a few days ago by the Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, because he has nothing to report as having been achieved by him.
"GERB is not an opposition in Sofia, because in the last one year there has been no government in the city. While we are trying to make constructive decisions for the development of Sofia, PP-DB-SS are doing everything possible to sabotage us. There have never been as many protests in Sofia as there have been in the last one year," commented Borshosh.
Ekaterina Yordanova, vice-president of the Commission for International Cooperation and Tourism, said that thanks to the efforts of GERB-SDS, Sofia was the European capital of sports in 2018. and world capital of sports that year.
