We do not have a new strategy for the child. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Education and Science, Galin Tsokov, during an award ceremony for civil activists for children's rights on the occasion of 35 years since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, BTA reported.
There is a lot of unfinished business. One of the most serious problems is related to the Strategy for the Child, noted Minister Tsokov.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by Bulgaria, is the international document that has the strongest influence on social and educational systems in recent years. "You give children opportunities, you give them security, you give them an inclusive environment, close to family. You also give them an opportunity for quality education. This is how you develop their potential," he told the awarded participants at the ceremony.
Tsokov noted the good work of the educational mediators, who are part of the teams in the education system, working with the children on a daily basis.
One of the most important rights of a child is to be happy, to receive a good education and to develop his capabilities. Let's all work together to ensure that children receive, live and grow up with this right, the Minister of Education also said.
Today's ceremony in the Granite Hall of the Council of Ministers was also attended by Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov.
