According to the latest analyzes of the European Center for Medium-Term Forecasts (ECMWF), Bulgaria will be under the influence of a Mediterranean cyclone in the period between November 29 - December 03, 2024. Significant precipitation of rain and snow is expected.
On Friday around noon, cloudiness will increase from west to east, and rain will begin in Western and Northwestern Bulgaria. The maximum temperatures will reach between 7 and 9 degrees in the northwestern and western regions, and in the eastern part of the country - between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius.
Expected snowfall
The weather conditions will worsen significantly on Saturday day and Sunday night. The expected snow cover in the different areas:
Northwest Bulgaria: between 5 and 10 centimeters
Northwestern Pre-Balkan: up to 25 - 30 centimeters
Sofia: between 5 and 25 centimeters
Warnings
Due to the expected 72-hour snowfall combined with strong winds, the snowpack in some areas of the country could exceed 100 centimeters. There is a risk of blocking roads and settlements.
