"The appearance of Atanas Atanasov as Speaker of the National Assembly is a chance to start negotiations and I hope that next week we will start untying the knots through candidacies, change of candidates. ... I propose to colleagues from the PP-DB to send out a negotiation team and start preparations for both a leadership meeting and every single element of a potential future coalition agreement".
According to him, GERB are not looking for another candidate to propose for the prime minister of the country, except for the already named leader of the party - Borisov.
Mitov clarified that it is not GERB that is "hitting the ball", but PP-DB with their declaration of a sanitary cordon for Delyan Peevski:
"There is no way we can sign the declaration, there is no self-respecting party, not only in Bulgaria, but also in the whole of Europe, to which you can give something written on a piece of paper and ask it to sign it, because according to this logic we can write our declaration and it may not sound very nice to the PP-DB colleagues. If they want to achieve some political intentions, then they enter into talks and based on what has already been agreed during the negotiations, a declaration is made and it is already signed by the leaders. Such is the normal policy-making algorithm.
