Discussion with charitable cause under the title: “I want you to hear me“ organized the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists in the European Parliament. It is dedicated to the problems and challenges facing children and youth with hearing impairment and their families. The event will take place on December 13, 2024. /Friday/ from 2:30 p.m. in the hall of the Bulgarian Cultural Center, str. “Oarsman“ 13, town Sofia.
On December 3rd we celebrate the International Day of People with Disabilities. Public support and empathy are needed, but also the development of policies at the national and European level in order for these people to participate fully in public life. The emphasis should be on the person, their potential and their personal dignity, not on their disability.
Equal opportunities and social justice are the focus of all political actions and initiatives of the Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. The current mandate of the European Parliament coincides with the second phase of implementation of the European Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities /2025 - 2030/ and with the entry into force of the European Card for Persons with Disabilities.
With the discussion “I want you to hear me“ The delegation of Bulgarian socialists in the European Parliament directs attention precisely to the specific difficulties and needs of children and young people with hearing impairment and their families. The main challenges are: inclusive education, employment and the need for equal access to the labor market.
The event will be attended by representatives of the National Association of Parents of Hearing Impaired Children, medical specialists, educational centers, social and non-governmental organizations, parents of hearing impaired children and youth .
The discussion is of a charitable nature and the funds raised will be donated to support parents of hearing-impaired children and youth.
