In Stara Zagora, GERB leader Boyko Borisov made a comment on his party's position on the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly on the eve of the ninth successive attempt to elect him reported by Nova TV.
"People can hardly explain the current situation. Elections are the most democratic thing where people vote on how we should be sorted. And for weeks the last person on the ballot wants to have a cordon for the first. And he has barely entered the parliament. The penultimate one wants to have a chairman of the National Assembly, who will also become the prime minister. And before, before, before the last one, he wants the same, because he has two more MPs than the penultimate one. Is there any logic in this?" Borisov asked. And he added: "Despite everything, I withdrew Raya Nazaryan so that we can see if a majority will be gathered. The problem is not in the budget, but in the majority - what benchmarks it will set. And there is no such majority".
According to Borisov, the possibility of a majority was discussed a few weeks ago at a national meeting. "BSP colleagues came and said: "After PP-DB withdrew their candidate, you withdrew your candidates - we offer Natalia Kiselova. And despite the decisions of our congress, we supported them. We supported Kiselova in two votes, but she didn't get any votes," he recalled.
"Now the intriguers from PP said: "We will elevate gen. Atanas Atanasov for chairman, because Borisov proposed him. Yes, I proposed - Atanasov - head of parliament, and Borisov - head of cabinet. When you said "A", it's okay to say "B" too. We talked to all of them - both BSP and "Yes, Bulgaria". Because PP are not involved. They said to vote for General Atanasov in order to elect him, and then they would make thematic majorities with the other parties and choose their regulators. And why did we fight in these elections?!", commented the leader of GERB.
"And I suggested to the PP-DB colleagues that we go back. "We will not withdraw Raya, let them vote for her, but we will sign that the moment we form a cabinet with the Prime Minister of GERB, we will withdraw Raya and make Atanas Atanasov chairman," explained Borisov.
"I have the utmost respect for Atanasov, but this case is not about his personality. But I have to tell you why. And if there is no cabinet, there is no way to do it," the GERB leader is categorical.
In his words, "the caretaker government is obliged to submit the budget, even though there is no parliament. Then it will become clear how big the hole in the budget is. They will see how much has been created in recent years by these caretaker governments. I want there to be a government," he pointed out.
