We have a decision of the National Council – colleagues from “Democratic Bulgaria“ are free to go to negotiations and we have no desire to prevent them from possibly forming a government. We enter into talks only with parties that have signed our declaration for a sanitary cordon around Peevski. This was stated to the media by the co-chairman of “Continuing the Change“ Assen Vassilev, quoted by novini.bg.
When asked whether it is possible to split in a coalition with the DB if they form a government with GERB, Vassilev appealed to first see how the talks will end.
The former Finance Minister pointed out to journalists that for the state, in addition to judicial reform, it is of utmost importance that the committees be formed next week so that the 2025 budget can enter the plenary hall for discussion. Regarding it, Assen Vassilev explained that there will be “serious amendments“.
We see a budget that has been submitted with an inflated expenditure part, especially in the part with the salaries of the state administration. When the expenditure side is fixed, the revenue side will be able to be reduced, explained Vassilev.
Kiril Petkov also confirmed to the media on the sidelines of the parliament that there is no way they will go to negotiations with GERB, since they have not signed their declaration to isolate Peevski.
„We understand that negotiations are starting, but as we have said - we do not trust Mr. Borisov. If he wanted to form a government, he had to sign the declaration, to give up on Peevski, but he was not ready to do it. We wish our colleagues success, hopefully they achieve something, but our trust in negotiations and Borisov's approach is not there at all“, Petkov commented.
He then announced that tomorrow they will attend the hearing of the measure of Assen Vassilev's associate Lachezar Stavrev, against whom two charges have been brought - for official misconduct and money laundering.
He has already been detained for 72 hours. We will be by his side, we will be there because he is part of our team and there is no way that Peevski is waving the “bat” Sarafov, who is afraid of being dropped on January 16, is happening. Our entire team will be there and we will support him, said Petkov.
