Graduating hydro engineers have decreased 5 times in 7 years - 1

The admission and graduation of students from the hydro engineering specialties at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy has decreased more than 5 times in the last 7 years. This became clear during a press conference, which presented the results and highlights of an expert roundtable "Water scarcity and challenges facing water supply", organized by the Faculty of Hydrotechnics of the university.

Prof. Dimitar Alichkov from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy predicts that the water crisis in the country will worsen if measures are not taken to address the problem of the lack of quality and well-trained personnel:

"Human resources are extremely important and I think this is one of the key tasks that, if not solved, will not lead us to a good result", he said, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

Hydroengineering specialties are, on the one hand, difficult to complete, and on the other hand, the work of specialists in our country is low-paid. In addition, expert opinion is neglected in water management, emphasized the deputy dean of the Faculty of Hydrotechnics, Assoc. Prof. Ventsi Bozhkov:

"Conjunctural water management, experts and other well-meaning people who manage them do not respect the opinion of experts. And why should you work in such a field in which you are not valued? So it is understandable why some students do not seek employment in our field.
