Two more expert meetings were held today, which are part of the negotiations between GERB-SDF and “Democratic Bulgaria” for government formation. After yesterday's first meeting of the negotiation process, today the topics of the 2025 budget and the state of public finances were discussed, as well as measures to counter corruption and the need for justice reforms in the programs of both parties.
The budget meeting was attended by Temenuzhka Petkova, Krasimir Valchev, Tomislav Donchev, Denitsa Sacheva and Kostadin Angelov from GERB-SDF, and from “Democratic Bulgaria” Martin Dimitrov, Ivaylo Mirchev, Georgi Ganev, Radan Kanev and Vladislav Panev. The conclusion of the meeting is that stability of public finances, budget consolidation, is necessary in order to achieve the main strategic goal of the country - entry into the eurozone. In the longer term, efforts must be made towards a balanced budget at the end of a four-year term of office.
The parameters of the submitted draft of the State Budget Act for 2025 were discussed, as well as the potential risks it poses to the financial stability of the state. In this regard, the parties will hold an urgent meeting with the Minister of Finance and his team, in order to provide up-to-date information and discuss possible measures.
The meeting on justice and anti-corruption was attended by Nadezhda Yordanova, Atanas Slavov, Bozhidar Bozhanov, Lyudmila Ilieva, Kristina Petkova, Radan Kanev from “Democratic Bulgaria” and Rosen Zhelyazkov, Raya Nazaryan, Daniel Mitov and Georgi Georgiev GERB-SDF.
The discussed measures to combat corruption are accepted by both parties and there is a high degree of agreement to become part of a coalition agreement with specific deadlines, legislative proposals and changes in the policies of the executive branch for the entire term of government, the GERB press center reports.
The negotiations continue in the coming days with the topics of defense and foreign policy, transport and regional development, energy and environment.
