Gen. Dimo Gyaurov on the agreement with Ukraine: It is more like simple clumsiness on the part of the Prime Minister

Gen. Dimo Gyaurov on the agreement with Ukraine: It is more like simple clumsiness on the part of the Prime Minister - 1

The bilateral agreement on cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine in the field of security was never signed yesterday in Brussels.
It caused many heated debates in our country, and at the last meeting of European leaders, acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev had to inform Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that there would actually be no signing ceremony.

We should not look for a direct connection between our domestic political problems and what is happening in Brussels these days. This blunder that we witnessed is more likely a result of the processes that are taking place in our country and I do not see any strategic change in the views of one or another political force regarding the global processes that are taking place“, commented on “This Morning“ on bTV, Gen. Dimo Gyaurov, former director of the National Intelligence Service.
“The argument of the acting prime minister is correct to some extent and would make sense if this agreement actually contained some clauses binding Bulgaria to specific actions, specific economic or military assistance“, Gyaurov pointed out.
The meaning of the agreement is purely political. The European Union and its member states took this step to meet Ukraine's expectations, which cannot be justified, for early membership in the EU and NATO. This was intended to be a demonstration of future support“, said the former director of the National Intelligence Service.

“I cannot say what the reason for what happened is. Some politicians have described Dimitar Glavchev's actions as sabotage. It seems to me that it is more of a simple clumsiness on the part of the prime minister“, commented Gyaurov.
“These negotiations have been going on for two months. If he really wanted to get such a mandate, he could have gotten it in a more elegant way“, he believes.
