Kiril Petkov: Goodbye, Mr. Peevski - 1

"Goodbye, Mr. Peevski! Your exclusion opens our path to ALDE, because they too will prove that principles cannot be bought and sold", wrote the co-chair of We Continue the Change Kiril Petkov on his personal Facebook profile.

"I feel deep pride that the liberal family showed principle and did not allow a person with sanctions under the "Magnitsky Act" and RICO of Great Britain to be part of us. The world is changing with each passing day and is becoming more global. Every politician with true ambitions must be part of this global world – this is not a matter of choice, but of reality", added Petkov.

"Of course, some prefer the role of local street hooligans. But they do not understand the simple truth – isolation from the global system turns you into an increasingly insignificant player with each passing year. You are really becoming Mr. Nobody on the world stage!", the co-chairman of the PP also wrote.

"When you use people as pawns in your political game and ruin destinies like that of Lacho and his family out of pure greed for power, you lose your right to be part of the liberal and European family. You remain simply a marginal in the free world", with these words the former prime minister concluded his post.

Petkov also published a link from the ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) website to exclude the DPS – A new beginning from this European party.

Earlier today, the presidency of “Renew Europe“ in the European Parliament recommended terminating the membership of MRF, and the PP accepted this decision with satisfaction.

The exclusion of MRF from the prestigious European political group is a direct result of the actions of its chairman Delyan Peevski, who is subject to sanctions under the American “Magnitsky” Act and the British RICO Act. This decision confirms the position of the Bulgarian democratic forces on the need for a “cordon sanitaire” around the oligarchic structures that hinder the development of our country.

"Today's decision of Renew Europe proves that principles cannot be bought or sold. It is a clear signal that in the modern global world there is no place for politicians who use their power for personal gain and trample on democratic values," said PP co-chair Kiril Petkov.

In its press release, “Renew Europe“ recalls that the MRF party, which once defended the rights and freedoms of minorities, is today completely deviated from its original mission.

The isolation of MRF from European liberal structures is a logical consequence of the systematic violation of democratic principles and the rule of law.

We expect the final decision to exclude MRF to be confirmed at the upcoming vote in the group on January 14, 2025," PP writes
