Bad conditions for tourism in the mountains, the Mountain Rescue Service (MSS) announced. It is windy, foggy, cloudy and snowing in the highlands.
The mountain rescuers have not registered any incidents in the last 24 hours. The MSS recommends that tourists monitor the weather forecasts, not to underestimate the conditions in the mountains, and not to overestimate their own capabilities.
Most facilities are working in the resorts.
An orange code for significant rainfall and snow is in effect today in 9 regions of the country. It is for settlements in the regions of Vratsa, Gabrovo, Lovech, Montana, Pleven, Ruse, Smolyan, Sofia region and Targovishte. A new snow cover will form there.
A yellow code applies to 16 regions in the country, with the warning for wind and rain in the eastern regions. It will be cloudy and foggy in the mountains, with snowfall.
There will be blizzards along the passes, and gusts will also form. A strong, temporarily stormy wind will blow from the east-northeast on the ridges. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters will be around 0 degrees, at 2000 meters - around minus 3 degrees.
