A 17-year-old girl has started a donation campaign to buy two automatic external defibrillators. They will be placed in the most popular volleyball halls in Sofia, bTV reported. Maria has been in the volleyball hall since she was a child. She says that health always comes first.
“When the idea for these defibrillators was created, the first place I thought of that I would like to have them was both the Levski and CSKA halls“, said Maria - organizer of the campaign.
The girl is inspired by the example abroad, where such devices are in every hall.
The most important thing is a quick reaction, says Maria and explains that the defibrillator increases the chance of rescue from 50 to 70% per cent. Another 8,000 leva are needed for the two devices.
“Cardiac arrest is the most common cause of death not only in Bulgaria, but all over the world with over 10,000 cases of cardiac arrest“, explained Maria.
“When I was playing in Italy, literally at a sports match one of my colleagues passed away due to the lack of such defibrillators. I am extremely happy that Levski and CSKA are uniting for the life, for the health of the athletes, and also the fans in the halls“, said Vladimir Nikolov - volleyball player.
To raise funds, the young athlete is organizing a campaign. If you also want to help provide such devices in sports halls, see how HERE:
