The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) has identified over 20 websites that offer hexahydrocannabinol (HCH) and its derivatives. This becomes clear after a large-scale inspection carried out by the institution after the tragic incident in Pleven, in which a 14-year-old boy lost his life.

The Chairperson of the CPC, Maria Filipova, has ordered an immediate notification to the General Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime" to take action to suspend access to the sites in question.

"On some of the websites, test certificates are available, which are incorrectly perceived as licenses", the CPC reported and emphasized that the distribution of narcotics is illegal and not subject to licensing.

As part of the inspection, about 200 retail outlets throughout the country were inspected - cigarette and alcohol stores, grocery stores and other small outlets. The only case of offering products containing hexahydrocannabinol was established in Varna.

The CPC specifies that all seized products will be tested in the licensed laboratory of the "Customs" Agency.

According to the Pleven District Prosecutor Vladimir Nikolov, preliminary data from the complex physical and chemical expertise confirm the presence of hexahydrocannabinol in the vape used by the deceased boy.

The Ministry of Health clarifies that hexahydrocannabinol has been included in List I of prohibited substances with a high degree of risk to public health since October 2023.
