Georgi Lozanov: We need a rescue government - 1

When forming a government, it was a question of whether these most important reforms, which have been talked about since the protests in 2020, could be carried out, and whether this executive branch would finally work in support of these reforms. Now this is no longer the central issue. This was commented on “This Morning“ by media expert Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov on bTV.

“This government must be a rescue government, because the situation is much more critical than before, especially with this budget, which risks taking us out of the eurozone for a long time and not giving us a chance to enter“, said Lozanov.

“Listening to the experts in this field, this budget has the potential to shake up the currency board. So this game is getting pretty rough. A regular government must urgently protect us from these risks“, added the media expert.

According to him, it is very important to have a rescue government, but not at any cost – that is, not to lead Bulgaria to the west, but to the east.

Former Energy Minister Miroslav Sevlievski said that he is positive and sees good signs regarding the chance for a regular cabinet.

„The fact that there was constructive work in the legal committee is good, as is the fact that there were several bills that condemn the change in the election rules“, is Sevlievski's opinion.

„I think that politicians realize that the branch they are on is based on fair elections and the budget. If what happened yesterday does not happen again in the budget committee – Asen Vassilev to quarrel with Delyan Dobrev, I hope that this parliament will survive and they will be able to form a government“, commented the former energy minister.

According to Georgi Lozanov, the question about the regular government is whether this is not actually a pre-decided theater.

„Delyan Peevski is not involved in the whole thing. Recently, he has declared himself as a powerful figure and the question is whether he would agree to have a government without his participation, which is one of the central topics of the negotiations, and if he would not agree, whether he has the tools to prevent such a government from having one. If it is already pre-decided in dialogue with him, the theater is already starting to see who will bear the blame for the fact that there will be no government“, commented Lozanov.
