We live in the joy of Easter! This was stated by His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniel. The leader of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrated the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy in the temple “Resurrection of Christ“ in the “Krasna Polyana“ residential area.
“The laity must cross the threshold of the holy monastery with pure hearts, bright thoughts, gratitude to God. God with His resurrection showed us that there is a new kind and way of life, which leads to incorruption. Humanly this is not possible, but with the power of God it is“, said the patriarch, quoted by BGNES.
He noted that many consider Christianity to be a doctrine and moral norms.
„Christianity without the person of the God-man Christ represents nothing. Because the Lord became man and lived as testified by the Apostles, and because no sin was found in him, he rose from the dead. Through his help, we follow him and live as he told us and his grace works in us. This testifies to us that there is a Resurrection and our hope is not empty. Millions of people have changed their way of life and have felt the power of a pious life. This is the greatest testimony to the Resurrection“, said Patriarch Daniel and wished: “Bright and blessed Easter!“.
CHRIST IS RISEN!
Easter is celebrated for three days. The first is always Sunday, when everyone goes to a solemn church service. Today is the second day of Easter, which is called “Rasturni Monday“. It is associated with the custom of “rolling eggs“ to protect against hail and for fertility. Young men and women stand in a meadow and roll red eggs among themselves.
The greeting “Christ is Risen“ is observed for 40 days.
