"If Vladimir Zelensky is forced to recognize Crimea as Russian territory, then the recognition of the other regions will be a settled issue".
This opinion was expressed on his Telegram channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is in pre-trial detention on charges of treason.
„In my opinion, we are now at the point of greatest probability of concluding a truce. At the same time, if Zelensky is forced to recognize Crimea as Russian, then the remaining territories will become a matter of technique,“ he writes.
According to the MP, the threat of sanctions has influenced Zelensky, who speaks of “Russian narratives“, but has no real impact on the negotiations between Russia and the US.
“Have you noticed that after the scandal in the White House, Zelensky has not been systematically invited to any negotiations with the participation of Americans?”, the parliamentarian noted.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing its sources, that the US is ready to recognize Crimea as Russian as part of the peace agreement for Ukraine.
However, Washington has not yet made a final decision on this issue, the agency notes.
In April, Ukrainian-born American congresswoman Victoria Spartz said that Kiev should abandon its claims to territories controlled by Russia and called for the resignation of Volodymyr Zelensky, whose re-election she said threatened the “loss of all of Ukraine”.
