The position of our parliamentary group was very clear today - we voted against the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet. This was said in the "Face to Face" program on BTV by the MP from "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" and former Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova.
Although Bulgaria needs a government in these severe crises in Bulgaria and around the world, we need a government that, in addition to getting the country through these crises, will modernize it and free it from the grip of corruption. Unfortunately, we do not see this in this cabinet, Yordanova said.
During the negotiations, we very clearly posed several groups of questions. First of all, the measures under the so-called a cordon sanitaire to be included in the agreement, anti-corruption measures to be included and the cabinet to be structured in a way that generates public trust, and the prime minister not to cause tension and be a publicly acceptable figure. On January 5, GERB terminated negotiations with us before we could complete the agreement. We defended the position that the agreement should be closed first and then names, including that of the prime minister, should be discussed at a leadership meeting. There were several actions left, including the issue of the head of the anti-corruption commission and actions that would exclude Peevski's influence on the government, pointed out the MP from "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria".
The agreement between the parties in the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet lacks important details of the cordon sanitaire that wave the "clubs" of Peevski. Many important issues for the people depend on these, at first glance technocratic, details, she added.
We are the opposition. GERB has terminated negotiations with us. I do not see any circumstances that could change our position. We will monitor every action of this cabinet and will oppose with all the fire of the parliamentary opposition any deviation from our European path, any corrupt action, emphasized Nadezhda Yordanova.
We expect a series of actions and will insist on them. We will insist that one of the first actions of the cabinet be a request for a convergent report on Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone, because we already meet all the conditions, she noted.
There is a paradox before the coalition formed in this way - the agreement is based entirely on the values of parliamentary democracy, and part of the coalition opposes these principles on a daily basis
In response to a question about the words of GERB leader Boyko Borisov that there was an option today, the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet to be elected with a trick, such as Peevski's group leaving the plenary hall and removing the quorum for the vote, Yordanova commented: "From these words we can understand that Peevski's shadow is behind this cabinet. The commitment of the ruling majority is to show that this is not the case".
