Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone is a supranational issue, in this case we have no intention of GERB failing. This was stated to BNT by Ivaylo Shotev from PP-DB.
The party is insisting that the government request a convergence report from the EC on the country's entry into the eurozone. However, part of the Joint Governance Council is concerned that if Bulgaria is not ready, the next opportunity to request such a report will be in 2 years.
According to Ivaylo Shotev, Bulgaria has achieved all the criteria for entering the eurozone and there is no room for concern.
"What is currently required of the government is to submit a budget of up to 3% to the National Assembly. This should happen within two weeks. And in this regard, it is important for people to know that the window ahead of us is extremely short. It is about two weeks in which we will understand whether we continue in the direction of Bulgaria's European integration or have decided to take a different path. In our minds, the entire responsibility lies with the GERB party", said the MP.
"In this case, we have no intention of GERB failing. Moreover, we have made a statement that we will be a constructive opposition. And in this line of thought, they can rely on our expertise, because for us this is a supranational topic. Business says it is ready, the state says it is ready, we have adopted all the laws and I think that our society is used to working in euros, shopping in euros", added Shotev.
