During the weekend, the verbal skirmishes between the ruling GERB-SDF and the opposition PP-DB continued.
Since the election campaign, GERB has been accusing PP of a hole in the budget of 18 billion leva. Assen Vassilev answered today to the Bulgarian National Radio that the data from the Ministry of Finance do not show such a thing.
This entire process is related to the intention to enter the eurozone.
„The same rules apply in both the budget and love. In love, Freud's rule applies - you sympathize with the other and keep yourself under control, the same is true with the budget. The current dispute, however, is in my opinion very strange – they are currently looking for who is to blame“, said in the program “120 Minutes“ economist Assoc. Prof. Krasen Stanchev.
And he admitted that although he has always been critical of the PP-DB, he currently sees how Asen Vassilev is stepping into Ivan Kostov's shoes and accepting the image of the person, “guilty of everything“.
“This is simply not the case and if anyone wants to understand why it is not so, they should open the BNB website, see the latest macroeconomic report or program and it says that everything is currently good and must be achieved“, specified Assoc. Prof. Stanchev.
Economist Georgi Ganev supported his thesis, stating that such a hole of 18 billion leva does not exist. He pointed out both options, which in his opinion explain the accusations from GERB“
„One option is that the ruling GERB-SDF party has actually given up on the eurozone and is looking for someone to blame so that they are not to blame and are talking nonsense about various holes in the budget. The other option is that they want to pin the eurozone on their lapels without sharing it with absolutely no one else and that only GERB-SDF should have the credit, and that everyone else is bad, black and incapable“.
