There is nothing wrong with boycotting. Everyone is free to do it, to shop in a large or small store. However, it seems to me that the state also played a role in this, precisely to trigger a legislative initiative.
This was stated by economist from the Institute of Market Economics Petar Ganev to bTV, quoted by novini.bg.
According to him, there was “shaming” that some people shopped on the day of the boycott.
“The release of data showed that the state was assisting. The effect of the boycott is the legislative initiative. I am worried about the political figures behind this boycott. It is one thing for it to be a purely civic initiative, but when politicians appear - we know what is meant,” emphasized Ganev.
According to him, the main focus should be on producers. “There is a lot of talk about cooperation, shortening supply chains, but not attacking investors with a heavy shovel.”
Dimitar Zorov, chairman of the Association of Dairy Processors in our country, emphasized: “We need to tell each other the truth. We heard Prime Minister Zhelyazkov say that the government will not distort the market. The market is so distorted at the moment that it cannot be distorted any more. It was established that the markup on dairy products is 70-100%. Is it fair for the price to be double in stores? This undermines Bulgarian production.”
„Producers should not wage war with retailers, but at 1 leva per liter of milk - you see how much it costs for the end consumer”, he added.
„Above my price for yogurt, an 80% markup is added in stores“, the producer also shared.
