Donald Trump sent a message to Bulgaria regarding its role in peace in Ukraine and energy supplies, which, according to an expert, can be interpreted as a "hint" about our behavior on the gas market towards Russia.
In a letter to President Rumen Radev on the occasion of Bulgaria's national holiday, the American head of state emphasized the importance of our country for peace in Ukraine and ensuring reliable energy supplies. The message was analyzed by energy expert Viktor Minchev in the program "Your Day" on NOVA NEWS.
„Turkish Stream still passes through Bulgaria, which supplies Serbia and Hungary, which are quite close to Russia. Considering everything else, this is probably a hint to us to be obedient in the gas energy market towards Russia," Minchev said on television.
The expert explained that Trump's letter to Radev is obviously not about ensuring reliable supplies specifically for our country. Viktor Minchev pointed out that after the start of the war in Ukraine, Bulgaria has managed to diversify its sources and secure the necessary quantities of natural gas through the partnership with Greece and ties to Azerbaijan.
According to the expert's analysis, the message could be interpreted as a signal to Bulgaria to take into account its geopolitical situation and its role as a transit country for Russian energy resources to some European countries that maintain closer relations with Moscow.
