Former Deputy Minister of Defense Yordan Bozhilov said that the main highlight of the Munich Security Conference was that the expectations of European leaders and reality diverged, NOVA reported.
„They thought there would be softer messages from the US, and they expected to hear issues that are important for Europe. But there was nothing like that in J.D. Vance's speech“, he added.
Bozhilov recalled that Europe wants to have stricter regulations for social networks. „Especially when it comes to personal data, all platforms are American, this is business. But businessmen like Musk and Zuckerberg don't want such control from Europe," the former deputy minister explained.
“The other important thing, in my opinion, is that it is evident in his speech - Europe will not have a voice in solving important issues for America. One of them is Ukraine. Donald Trump promised that he would stop the war of his own people, not Europe or Kiev," he claims.
According to him, it is key how Europe will act from now on, adding that the unity of the Old Continent is put at very serious risk.
