Yavor Bojankov on the budget postponement: There is no sabotage, this is just plain incompetence - 1

There is no sabotage, this is just plain incompetence, said Yavor Bojankov in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio. Thus, he determined the postponement of the submission of the draft budget of Bulgaria a week later.

"The ruling majority does not submit the budget and risks Bulgaria's path to the eurozone, because it is absurd for Bulgaria to appear before the Eurogroup, which must convince that we have stable public finances and at the same time we do not have a budget", commented Bozhankov.

According to him, the ruling majority is introducing a bunch of populist proposals into the National Assembly, but they cannot submit the budget that is expected of the entire country.

"We see an absolute problem in the postponement by a week. And how long does the adoption take, why convincing our partners that we meet the criteria for the eurozone and we must have not a submitted, but an adopted budget. Bulgaria is currently a hostage. And they are currently fighting for regulators and posts," Bozhankov added.

He pointed out that PP-DB is the only opposition and the only pro-European formation.

"We work in the National Assembly in a toxic environment. The media does not attack MRF-NN, but everyone attacks us PP-DB. Because MRF-NN is more of a ruling opposition. They are integrated into the government," Yavor Bozhankov believes.

On the creation of a "Peevski" commission he promised that they would propose it in the National Assembly every day, "to convince themselves that there is no majority and they will not vote for it because Peevski is integrated into the government".

Bozhankov pointed out that as an opposition, the goal of the PP-DB is to actively involve the civil sector and non-governmental organizations in order to protect "the access of Bulgarian citizens to decision-making at a high state level for the selection of regulators".

Bozhankov commented that Europe must finally stand firmly on its feet and think about its defense policy, security:

"We have been in lethargy for a long time, that someone else will pay for our security. Europe will probably respond adequately to the requests of the US. We need to strengthen Europe's positions. There is no lasting peace in Ukraine without Europe's participation. The future of Europe cannot be decided without the participation of the EU."

Bozhankov reminded that hate speech is unacceptable in the National Assembly and promised that the PP-DB must set an example. He pointed out that their MP Manol Peykov had not attacked anyone, but was a victim of attacks by "Vazrazhdane".
