The first Bulgarian armored personnel carriers from a batch of 100 units that underwent major repairs and modernization at Ukrainian enterprises appeared at the exercises of the fighters of the newly formed 156th mechanized brigade.
The machines, whose average age is 50 years, have undergone major repairs with a number of serious design changes aimed at improving comfort and reliability of operation.
The modernization of the old BTR-60PB to the level of the BTR-60D included a complete remotorization with the replacement of the pair of 90-horsepower GAZ-40P gasoline engines and the gearbox with two new German Deutz BF4M2012 with a capacity of 102 hp. s. everyone.
According to the Militarnyi portal, which covers the armed forces, the military industry and the war between Russia and Ukraine, the modernized vehicles in the video, however, have a number of differences from the prototype, which was presented in April 2024.
First of all, the armored personnel carriers lack armor elements that were supposed to increase the level of protection of the crew. Instead, the armored personnel carriers have folding structures with anti-drone nets. It is not clear whether they were equipped with a digital radio station "Lybid K-2RB", a navigation system SN-4215 and optical night vision devices for the gunner and driver.
