A boycott of food chains has been announced for today. It will be on the same day as the mass protest organized in Croatia, BNT indicated.
The organizers defined as a victory the results of the first such actions in our country last week, which showed a drop in turnover by about 30% or 7.9 million leva less. They also insist that the ceiling on markups be below 30%.
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov convened an extraordinary government meeting at the end of last week to seek a solution to the high prices of food. Two laws are being prepared to introduce new conditions throughout the chain, without maximum prices and specific determination of markups. The goal is to eliminate vicious practices.
