He is accused of committing a crime of official duty in the performance of official duties, in order to obtain a benefit for another - a commercial company.
According to the Criminal Code, the crime of which he is accused provides for a punishment of “deprivation of liberty“ for a term of 1-8 years.
The Vidin District Court, after examining the materials collected so far from the pre-trial proceedings, accepted that there is a reasonable assumption that Nayden Yonov committed the act of which he is accused. Given the gravity of the crime and the punishment provided, the court panel considered the danger of the person absconding or committing another crime to be real and decided that the only appropriate measure of deterrence against N.I.Y. was “detention in custody“.
