In the created geopolitical crisis situation with the rift between the US and the EU after the Munich Conference and the subsequent summits in Paris, the Bulgarian authorities must necessarily commission the collection of information and develop possible scenarios for the development of this crisis.
This was told to FOCUS by the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Tsvetlin Yovchev.
"Based on these scenarios, a concept should be developed from now on for how Bulgaria should act in the development of a specific scenario. And the scenarios for the development of the EU and NATO will pose different challenges to us and Bulgaria must be ready. Because if we continue in this direction, not being oriented in what is happening and not being able to form a position correctly in a short period of time, this will be destructive for the country,“ he is categorical.
According to him, the National Security Advisory Council to the President must be convened, but before that it is good to create one for the Council of Ministers, which, according to him, will allow the tasks to be set and give the executive branch time to prepare for such an advisory council, which is under the President, where a common position and consensus between the leading political parties on how to react are sought.
"What will happen from here on depends on the scenarios, on the way the situation will develop. We should not rush into any opinion or concept at the moment,“ he said.
