The MP from "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Manol Peykov stated that there are serious disagreements in the ruling coalition regarding Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone. In the studio of the show "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov" on Bulgarian National Television, he commented on the current political situation in the country.
"The coalition itself is on clay feet. In fact, their entire program is our program. This is the program that we put on the table," said Peykov.
According to the MP, the main problem in the ruling coalition is related to the different geopolitical views of the partners. "The problem is that there are political forces here that have diametrically opposed understandings on fundamental geopolitical issues - some want the West, others want the East", he explained.
Criticism of the government
Peykov also pointed out the contradictions in the prime minister's statements: "Borisov chose these partners and in just a few weeks they brought him to a point where two days ago he said: we are not the ones in power. How come you are not? Who is? So it will be difficult for them, simply because these are an eagle, a crab and a pike. They are pulling the car in different directions and it will be very difficult for them to find unity on key issues".
The Eurozone as a priority
The MP stressed that joining the eurozone is of key importance for the country. "And if the ITN and the BSP are not convinced that this is the most important cause for us, a civilizational choice, fundamental for the future of our children, for our prosperity, for our freedom, how will it happen? Because we expect it to happen on January 1, 2026 and we are doing everything possible", said Peykov.
