I strongly condemn today's vandalism by “Vazrazhdane” in front of the European Commission representation. This is not the face of Bulgaria, but an anti-Bulgarian and anti-democratic action. It carries a huge risk to the public image of Bulgaria, as a country with a clear European profile and is trying to instill fear and opposition in our society.
This was stated in his position by the chairman of the BSP Atanas Zafirov, quoted by BNT.
Six detained and ten injured police officers after the storming of “Vazrazhdane” on the EC building in Sofia
"I want to clearly state that Bulgaria is Europe – historically, culturally and civilizationally it belongs to the European political, economic, moral and cultural system. Moreover - Bulgaria has made a significant contribution to its formation. Bulgaria will be part of the Eurozone when it is ready to contribute to the stability and prosperity of this European space. The fact that we all ask ourselves questions - both about our own readiness and about the state and future of our Union - does not mean that we should burn and desecrate its institutions. There are democratic, moral and humane ways to conduct dialogue and express disagreement. Freedom of expression is indisputable, but it goes as far as it does not hurt, defile, insult or blaspheme the positions and morals of other individuals and institutions", Zafirov also writes.
The BSP chairman believes that these are the actions of "a handful of noisy, self-forgetful politicians".
"Therefore, I do not accept the actions of a handful of noisy, self-forgetful politicians, whose goal is to assert themselves through extreme actions and to cast a shadow of doubt on the European and democratic profile of Bulgarians and our society. The hypocrisy and lack of common sense of the instigators of this act are also evident from the fact that Bulgarian police officers - people who embody the Bulgarian state and order - suffered because of them. This same state, which is supposedly so important for “Vazrazhdane”. Are we to believe that in their ideal of a state, any opinion and action that they do not like will be attacked to the point of blood and fire? You went too far, you overstepped, you crossed a line that is both civilizational and moral. And you owe an apology to both the Bulgarians and Europe."
From the very first outrage of “Vazrazhdane” against Bulgarian institutions and universal human values, “Yes, Bulgaria” has irrevocably and unconditionally condemned the political embodiment of violence. This was announced by the party's press center, quoted by FOCUS.
"Systematically, forcefully and unsuccessfully, Kostadin Kostadinov and his subordinates are poisoning our society with destruction and hatred, in an attempt to divert it from its civilizational choice and European path".
"Fascist commandos with MPs at the helm hidden behind their immunities have no place in European Bulgaria. They are an insult to parliamentarism, to the coat of arms of the republic, to statehood, to civil society and even to human, conscientious relations between us. Sowing destructive winds reaps storms with which “Vazrazhdane" is hitting law, order and safety in Bulgaria - including today on the employees of the Ministry of Interior who are called upon to defend them.
“Vazrazhdane" are seeking to rewrite the darkest pages of political violence in Bulgarian 20th century history, but Kostadinov and company are doomed to fail. Bulgaria will not allow them in again," the party says.
