The price of a liter of fuel will jump by 40 - 60 stotinki from January 1, 2027. This is shown by the calculations for fuels in our country, while complying with the requirements of the Green Deal. This was announced by the Chairman of the Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association Svetoslav Benchev in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio.

"This means that on January 1, 2027, we must artificially raise the prices of a liter of fuel by 40 - 60 stotinki, which will lead to artificial inflation - large. And I say it is not right, because in Germany this is already being implemented and it will not be felt there as in other countries - the Scandinavian ones, while in Central and Eastern Europe this will immediately affect the market, with artificial inflation and will have a bad effect on society", warned Benchev.

According to him, our biggest problem at the moment is the Green Deal and packages that are leading Europe to the uncompetitiveness of the industry:

"Because we do not have clarity about what will be done in the future, at the same time huge restrictions are being imposed on chemical producers and refineries. What concerns us in Bulgaria is, for example, the Green Deal, the so-called emissions trading in transport and buildings. This means that every liter of fuel that comes onto the market will be subject to a quota, similar to that of coal-fired power plants. And this should be applied from January 1, 2027."

Benchev commented on the introduction of an extended cash receipt, including an invoice, when refueling at a gas station. A few days ago, he announced that the "business" with VAT from refueling loses about 250 million leva per year.

"An extended cash receipt is being introduced after the budget is voted on. Let's see how the budget committee will pass and I don't expect any problems with this proposal," he shared.

And he specified that the invoice, the extended cash receipt, will be able to be taken right at the time of refueling, that day and the same hour.

"If he returns after half an hour, he won't be able to take an invoice," Benchev explained.

"A part of these 250 million leva are in the light, because the fraud that we have been commenting on from the beginning is an illegal VAT refund, it is returned to companies that do not have the right to VAT. The point is to prevent this from happening", Benchev was categorical.

And he predicted that crude oil prices would remain close to current values, "what the market is interested in now is what deal Russia and the USA will conclude".

Benchev pointed out that fuel prices in Bulgaria are currently the cheapest in the EU – 30 cents below average prices.
