The midnight support for the budget by the “DPS New Beginning” led to tension in the ruling majority, which had already been shaken in recent weeks. Today, the deputies around Ahmed Dogan, who support the government, issued a declaration in which they spoke of doubts about backstage agreements between the majority and Delyan Peevski. Are we seeing a serious problem or a storm in a teacup in parliament? This was commented on in the “Interview in NOVA News“ sociologist Petko Petkov, executive director of “Gallup International”.
According to him, there will be no new elections and what happened is just “a storm in a teacup”.
“Such situations will happen to us quite often. But here, there was rather such a move to instill tension and the MRF-DPS seemed to have caught on to this bait and you see what good material was obtained throughout the day - answers, declarations that hardly have any purely political meaning for the state”, said Petkov.
The topic of regulators:
“The best thing is for Bulgarian politicians to sit down and talk not in this way – we are the opposition, we are the ruling party, and they should really try to finally elect them", the sociologist believes.
When asked what they would gain from the DPS around Ahmed Dogan if they withdrew their support for the current ruling party, Petkov answered the following: “If “Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DPS” leaves this government, their future becomes increasingly uncertain and they may not pass the 4 percent barrier in time. Because now that they have entered this quadruple coalition, we have seen that support for them has decreased. That is, if they leave the government, support will also be even lower. And it means that this party may not enter the Bulgarian parliament. This is a serious issue that these politicians from this formation need to understand”.
