The former UK Defense Secretary told the BBC, quoted by FOCUS, that the US's exit from NATO would not be "the end of the world", and called on Europe to increase its support for Ukraine.
"I think we are already witnessing a new era, an era in which we cannot take US security guarantees for granted", commented Ben Wallace.
"I deeply regret that now, and they were the cornerstone of NATO and European security. If they pull out of NATO, we will undoubtedly be in a very different world.
"It is not the end of the world if they pull out of NATO," Wallace added. "Of course it is terrible. But we have the will in Europe and the means to fix our own security and defense".
Ukraine can still defeat Russia - but only "if we all step up and replace what the Americans have taken away, or show the right European resolve, including the UK, that we are not going anywhere".
