Ekaterina Mihaylova: Velichie's entry into parliament is not a threat to the majority - 1

"It seems that this government is dependent on Peevski. There are several votes in parliament that determine where you are. Whoever supports the budget is part of the government – this is the rule. You cannot close your eyes to such votes – they determine you."

This was what former MP and current constitutional law professor Ekaterina Mihaylova told NOVA.

According to her, a possible entry of "Velichie" into parliament is not worrisome for the majority. She explained that what is more worrisome is that we could again enter a backroom government. "They will pull the strings behind the scenes. "The distrust of Bulgarian citizens in the electoral process is now even greater," Mihaylova said.

From a foreign policy and geopolitical point of view, she supports the position of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and the majority in parliament.

The constitutionalist emphasized that consistency in politics is always rewarded. "Standing one's position is rewarded. It may not be at the moment, especially in critical days. Difficult, strategic decisions are made that the majority in society may not approve of, but later the right steps are visible", she noted.

Mihaylova believes that Bulgaria can be with both the US and Europe, and this does not mean that we are uncritical. Standing on the side of virtues, although difficult, brings success, but, she added, we must also communicate with the United States with all due attention.

For the first time, she sees an opportunity for strong European leaders to emerge. She sees such leaders in the faces of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the possible future Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
