Gebrev: Currently our country does not have a military-industrial complex - 1

Bulgaria does everything chaotically, including the development of its arms industry.

This was told to bTV by businessman and long-time arms manufacturer Emilian Gebrev.

„The world is shaking and Europe is also shaking. What is even worse is that this shaking began a long time ago, but no one paid any attention to it. Everyone thought that this would pass like any other thing. But unfortunately this cannot happen and the peaceful life of Europe - within about 80 years, cannot exist“, he also pointed out.

The businessman commented on the armament of Europe and that of Russia. According to him, in recent years, funds have been redirected to solve certain social problems, while the defense of the Old Continent has been neglected.

„The US said that European countries should adjust the percentage of GDP allocated to armaments and Bulgaria started to do so. The bad thing is that in our country this is done chaotically. It is not clearly defined – to increase first, second and third on purpose. This is the job of the people who work in the Ministry of Defense“, Gebrev pointed out.

He commented that the defense sector is part of the economy of a country, and our economy has suffered “huge and heavy blows“ in recent years. Gebrev recalled that many enterprises have disappeared from the picture and emphasized that currently our country does not have a military-industrial complex.

„There is no complex. There are separate companies that operate and cooperate with each other. "They have reached this level without burdening a single Bulgarian citizen with a single cent. All this was done by the companies independently, despite the reluctance of the state as a whole, despite the racketeering by the state, despite the repression by the state and attempts to redirect property from the defense sector," he further commented.
