Any calm would be rather deceptive or temporary, the political scientist believes

Any calm would be rather deceptive or temporary, because this cabinet has gathered many different parties with different interests, different ideologies, different motives for participating in it, but for now its goals legitimize its existence. Adopting the budget, entering the eurozone, choosing regulators makes sense as existence and completely stabilizing the institutions. On the other hand, the opposition is not an alternative as a government, it is divided into at least three parts with radically different views on government policy. We will almost certainly witness political comfort and calm for this government, rather tensions will erupt periodically, but as long as the goal is clear and important, the government will exist.

This was what political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva told FOCUS.

"The government was formed by an anti-crisis majority, which allowed many different formations to come together, which by themselves hardly see the reforms that the state needs in the same way. This government was created with the aim of putting an end to the spiral of political crises, which made it impossible, even in the medium term, to have a regular cabinet."

In terms of foreign policy, the great deal of energy that is being poured into the international arena is not leading to any lasting trends. "There is a lot of political will, but there are no results yet,", the political scientist believes. According to her, the Bulgarian Prime Minister's position on what is happening is extremely adequate and corresponds to our national interest – He, as a personal leader, attended the meetings and declared Bulgaria's pro-European political will, although there is a certain ambiguity in Bulgaria's position regarding the major conflict in Ukraine and Europe's participation in the peace negotiations.

"This started from a populist and hasty decision to vote in parliament on the non-participation of Bulgarian troops in the war in Ukraine, which no one wanted from us. Instead of adequately explaining to people what the challenges to our national security are, to the security architecture in Europe and the world, the parties are flooding us with hasty populist decisions."

In her words, politics is an extremely dynamic process and new divisions are already being observed in Bulgarian political life in Bulgaria - the parties are starting to adjust to President Trump's positions, accepting them as a political basis and for domestic political ideology and principles with the introduction of a more conservative ideology. "They see in the quick peace, which is Trump's concept for Ukraine, a solution to the problem. However, the question is for this peace to be lasting and secure. And here comes the great role of Europe and in particular of Bulgarian politicians - for this peace to be lasting and secure, it turns out that Europe must change its security system and must make its foreign policy unified."

It is extremely important for Bulgaria to defend its national interest as a sovereign European state at a time when Putin is very clearly expressing a desire for a new redistribution of zones of influence in Europe and in the world. At the same time, we cannot give up cooperation with the US, since in the Balkans we have a different situation, where not everything is the European Union. "Here in the Balkans we have a rather unstable situation with several critical points that can be used to destabilize and destabilize the situation. It is extremely important here to be partners with the US, because we see one Serbia, we see one Macedonia, which can rather be conduits of Russia's interests. So it is in our interest, together with Greece and Bulgaria, to be in close cooperation with the US."

"I don't really see the point of a strategy that pits the EU against the US. That won't be the solution. I rather see Europe building itself as an equal and equal partner of the US - something that the US demands from Europe. And this is their new concept, unlike after the end of the Cold War. And it is very important in this context of modernization and rearmament that Bulgaria actively participates."
