The opposition came out with new criticisms of the government and the ruling majority this morning - this time because of the 2025 budget. There hasn't been such a left-wing and problematic budget since 1997, and the consequences will be paid for in the next many years. This was stated on the sidelines of parliament by Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB, quoted by dariknews.bg.
"The burden on business is increasing tremendously, today we will try to save the VAT registration threshold of 166,000 leva, which concerns 200,000 companies, added Dimitrov.
He was outraged by the government and stated that in addition to not making a reform, they are also stopping all good initiatives and, in his words, they want to take Bulgaria back.
"A typical example is their attempt to reduce the VAT registration threshold, which has not been increased for 20 years. We raised it two steps, and now they want to go back," the DB MP also said and called for "these people to be stopped before the situation can't be controlled."
According to him, we are at a critical point and there is a danger of inflation: "The combination of state-owned stores, 20% markups, 19 + 7 - a total of 26 billion additional costs can increase prices in Bulgaria."
Regarding the accusations of GERB leader Boyko Borisov that instead of helping, they are hindering entry into the eurozone, Dimitrov was laconic: "It's good that we were there, because Borisov had given up on the eurozone, that's why he was talking about an 18 billion leva hole, to say I wanted the eurozone, but I saw an 18 billion leva hole and there's no way we can enter. You saw his rhetoric, it wasn't accidental. They rejected the changes to the BNB law, which are important for the eurozone, and now they have included them in the budget. So it's good that there was pressure from the PP-DB, we saved the eurozone. And because Borisov has a very bad conscience on the subject, that's why he's saying these things."
Meanwhile, inside the hall, the deputies did not accept the proposal of "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" to change the agenda and start the parliamentary session with debates on the state budget at second reading, instead of the fixed first point for electing the governor of the National Health Insurance Fund.
"Citizens and unions are protesting outside, because the state budget is important to them," Vasil Pandov motivated the proposal. "The election of these two bodies before the budget vote raises doubts that the budget is subject to the conditions for electing a judge in the Constitutional Court and a manager of the NHIF", he pointed out.
After the request was rejected, the first item remained the election of the head of the Health Fund. The only candidate is Petko Stefanovski, nominated by the GERB-SDF parliamentary group.
