Almost the entire area of the protected area “Aldomirovsko Swamp“ was affected by the fire that broke out on Friday evening.
As a result of the incident, a significant part of the vegetation and habitats located on the territory of the swamp were destroyed, the Ministry of Environment and Water announced.
Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water – Sofia carried out an on-site inspection after taking action based on information from the media. The inspection will continue to monitor the situation and will take all necessary measures within its competence.
Aldomirovsko Swamp is located in the land of the village of Aldomirovtsi, Slivnitsa Municipality, and was declared a protected area by an order of the Minister of Environment of May 1989. The protected area is of great importance for the conservation of biodiversity in the region and many birds nest or reside there - great crested grebe, great grebe, little grebe, black-necked grebe, plover, white stork, great egret, little egret, coastal snipe, etc.
