Svetlin Tachev: Our foreign policy is to humble ourselves until the storm passes - 1

I believe that the MRF-DPS will remain in government, but with conditions. Their transition to opposition will not be in their interest, because Delyan Peevski will then be indirectly at the same table with the ruling party. So if they leave government, it will put them in an even worse situation, because their current one is not good either. Political scientist Svetlin Tachev made such a comment in an interview with NOVA NEWS.

He pointed out that the Zhelyazkov government will not fall in a vote of no confidence given the realistic possibility of entering the eurozone.

„Currently, almost everyone wants the government to remain, even the PP-DB. "Anyone who destroys this government and fails our membership in the eurozone will suffer great negative consequences," Tachev noted.

The opposition is using its right to a vote of no confidence, that is the point of the opposition, of course. But look at what the opposition is like - it is very fragmented. In this National Assembly, the ruling majority has great comfort in governing, since there are two formations in the opposition (DPS-New Beginning and PP-DB, editor's note) that are in no mood to overthrow the cabinet, the political scientist explained.

As for Bulgaria's place in foreign policy, Svetlin Tachev said that the Bulgarian state is not able to take an adequate position and is watching “where the wind will blow“.

If you remember, Borisov and Peevski were staunch Euro-Atlantics, they even received medals for this, but as soon as Trump came to power, they took the opposite positions. Everything that is done in support of Ukraine is suddenly no longer in the interest of the state. This is a conjunctural turn, there is no ideology here. We are moving according to the moods - whether to be with Europe or with the USA. We are not aware of ourselves in foreign policy. Our foreign policy is to humble ourselves until the storm passes, and then see which side to stand on, Tachev also said.
