Tsvetanka Andreeva: The problem is not in overthrowing a government, but in what alternative is being proposed - 1

Corruption is a topic for every government, for every political representative, and it has a bearing on their state. For corruption, the government must also overthrow itself, because it admitted that there is a problem. However, we do not hear what will happen on January 2, 2026. This was stated by political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov in the program “From the Day” on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

The problem is not in overthrowing a government, but in what alternative is being proposed. At this point, it is a return to the crisis. In my opinion, the opposition is only identifying itself without providing a clear alternative to governance, said political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva.
However, in Bulgaria this consensus on belonging to Western civilization has been reaffirmed. In fact, the majority that was produced in parliament today also corresponds to the public consensus on the geopolitical pro-European orientation, she added.

There is no alternative majority, Stefanov is categorical. “We have forgotten how to do politics”, he said.

From the very beginning, when forming the government, it was clear that we would witness different types of majorities on different topics. The fact is that the coalition supporting the government exceeds the framework of the pro-government coalition. The important thing is that the orientation, the direction of this government is maintained, Andreeva emphasized.

According to Lyubomir Stefanov, whether there will be a government depends on the parties in the cabinet. There is no alternative majority. There is no one standing as a counterweight capable of overthrowing this cabinet and casting a majority to form a cabinet. This is the reality at the moment. Mr. Peevski wants to establish himself as an unavoidable political factor. Mr. Borisov is irritated with Peevski for taking the lead on every single word. Borisov wants to be proactive, not reactive. At the moment, he more or less has to run after the wave that he usually raises. The BSP turns out to be the most loyal coalition partner in this coalition. The MRF-DPS are not officially in the coalition. What will they leave?, explained the political scientist.

The government is working in a very stressed environment. There is no peace. The coalition itself is ideologically very diverse. Next year, the political landscape will change very abruptly. We will see when President Radev's mandate expires, then we can expect development. After the report, there will be no alternative majority, this will mean a return to the crisis. I would like to believe that Bulgarian politicians realize this, summarized Tsvetanka Andreeva.
One thing is certain: we will not see one government in power for four years. There will be early elections, but they will not be this year, Stefanov predicted.
