Diana Damyanova: Peevski stood against the "Dogan" model and stated: "I want power, I will not support it" - 1

A key day for the fate of the ruling majority. MRF-DPS gathered at their headquarters today to decide whether they will continue with their support for the cabinet of Rosen Zhelyazkov.

PR expert Diana Damyanova and sociologist Dobromir Zhivkov analyze the tremors in power and the wavering support in the program “Face to Face“.

“I am left with the impression that the three elements of the coalition understand each other well and in this sense I believe that there is a reasonable consensus within them to continue together. This is important at the moment – to continue together, despite the turbulence in the DPS“, said Diana Damyanova.

„The electoral barrier must be raised. We must forget about that moment when one party won the elections and ruled – now the world is completely new, much more diverse, much more confused. However, when it comes to 9,10,11 parties, grouped in different segments, it is generally not very good“, she added.

And commented on the situation between the two DPS.

„Dogan has always given the de facto rule of the DPS to one of his proxies – as he has put them in, so he has removed them. One appeared, to whom he gave the rule in the person of Peevski, who turned out to be deeply involved – he was recognized“, she said.

And she explained that in her opinion, even when creating “DPS-New Beginning“ Delyan Peevski was driven mostly by the desire to actively participate in governance, which until then DPS had not done as a party:

“When he set out to build “New Beginning“, he set out with the idea that he would govern, not support – against the “Dogan“ model. This model was “we are balancers, we participate a little, the important thing is that people are fed“.

“In my opinion, he is making two serious changes – pushes this party to the left, on the other hand, he makes a new request that is completely foreign to Dogan, the request is “I want power, I will not support“, And in this situation Borisov must accept or not all of this. First, they must come to an agreement among themselves and hold the next elections“, she said.

“We must ask ourselves two very important questions, analyzing Peevski's path to power. The first is whether he has much more power than that given to him by the Bulgarian voter. And the second is that this is still a politician sanctioned under “Magnitsky“ for corruption at a very high level – this is a question every Bulgarian must ask himself“, concluded Dobromir Zhivkov.
