Marin Marinov in his last chats with his wife: I feel like screaming - 1

The wife of the Bulgarian Marin Marinov from the UN team who was killed in Gaza published on her Facebook profile one of their last chats before he died, writes Epicenter.

In the messages, Marin Marinov tells Yana Kostova how people in the strip are starving and how expensive food is when it is available. He also reveals that products that were previously stolen from humanitarian aid convoys are being sold at the market.

"Today the chef said that there was beef somewhere in their market, 80 dollars per kilogram. But what is the quality... a month ago there was only chicken, now it is gone. Eggs, when available, are 10 dollars per egg. 1 kg of tomatoes is 15 dollars", Marinov writes to his wife.

"In the markets there is mainly rice, pasta and oil, which is stolen from the convoys and then sold", adds the Bulgarian in Gaza.

Marinov admits that his stomach literally turns when he hears that someone somewhere else is throwing away food and calls such waste "whims".

"Knowing where I am going and how people literally have nothing to eat", adds the sea captain in a comment.

The last thing he writes is: "I feel like screaming".

Marin Marinov was the coordinator of the UN mission in the Gaza Strip. He lost his life when a tank shell hit the organization's building during the escalating tension between "Hamas" and Israel. Marinov was part of the system of observers that the UN sent to Gaza during the ceasefire to monitor the distribution of humanitarian aid.

Immediately after the shooting, the Israeli army denied that its units had struck the UN compound in Deir al-Balah.
