The leader of "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" (DSB) Atanas Atanasov announced in Varna his proposal for the candidate of the democratic community in the presidential elections in 2026 to be nominated with early elections, the press center of DSB1 reported, quoted by BTA.
They point out that the idea is based on the successful example of the transition, when Petar Stoyanov was elected president after defeating Zhelyo Zhelev in early elections. I believe that my colleagues from "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" are in solidarity with this idea, to start talks first within the coalition with "Yes, Bulgaria", with "We Continue the Change" and to organize early elections. If there are, of course, others who want to join, let them propose their own candidates. Whoever wins them will be our president, said Atanasov, quoted by the DSB press center.
Atanasov is in Varna on the occasion of a reporting and election meeting, which elected Dr. Ivaylo Mitkovski as chairman of the local organization of the formation. Dr. Ivaylo Mitkovski is an orthopedic traumatologist, originally from Varna, DSB informed.
In mid-February, the Executive Council of the PP "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" adopted a resolution in which it gives a mandate to the national leadership to begin preparations for the upcoming presidential elections in 2026 with the ambition of a victory for democratic forces in Bulgaria.
