Boyko Borissov: I will not be a candidate for president, I cannot be a hypocrite

I have been answering this question for 20 years. I can be in the executive branch. I cannot be a hypocrite, I cannot find fault with every attempt by a government to do something after these four years of chaos. I cannot, if I have insisted on signing a contract with "Botas", then try to get out and explain that someone else is to blame. This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov on the sidelines of parliament.

The topic of the upcoming presidential election in the autumn of the upcoming 2026 has been circulating in the public space lately.

"I will not be a candidate for president", the GERB leader stated categorically.

He criticized the contract with the Turkish gas transmission company "Botaş" again.

"I would never have raised this topic if we did not have to calculate where we would get the money under this contract. It has three extremely major weaknesses. This is a contract under which we have obligations - $9 per cubic meter, and no rights. The total amount of the contract is 4.2 billion leva. It is perfectly concluded for "Botas", Borisov said.

According to the GERB leader, anyone who tries to renegotiate the parameters of the contract will be accused of "giving something" to the Turkish side.

"Whoever concluded it, whoever was in the photos, should go and pray that we at least get away with half a billion", Borisov said.

"I have nothing against Radev, but he should tell me where we can get half a billion. This morning the invoice is 1.5 million leva. We haven't paid it, but we have committed to paying it. If there is a prosecutor's umbrella here, let them tell me," he also said.
