The writer Kalin Todorov passed away at the age of 72, his family announced. Before his death, he had been ill, his relatives specified.

Kalin Todorov was born in 1953 in Sofia. He graduated from Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski”, majoring in “Law”. Throughout his life, he was a journalist successively at the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, the “World Economy” program on BNT, the newspapers “Fatherly Front” and “Fatherly Newspaper” and freelanced. He covered the events surrounding the death of writer Georgi Markov on the Waterloo Bridge in London, the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the "gentle revolutions" in Bulgaria and Romania.

He is the author of the books "Who Killed Georgi Markov", "The Umbrella Murder" and "Behind the Curtain of the Socialist Party".

Kalin Todorov was the son of Stanko Todorov, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party, Prime Minister in two governments and Speaker of the National Assembly, and Sonya Bakish - a partisan before September 9, 1944 and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Woman Today" during the socialist era.
