The "consumer basket" this Easter is 6 leva more expensive than last year at this time. This was explained in the "Interview after NOVA News" by Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.
The "consumer basket" monitors 27 main products.
According to Ivanov, the price increase is mainly in fruits and vegetables, and the reason is the bad climate. “There is a slowdown in the trend towards a decrease in prices. We have a very good production of leafy vegetables. We will see a decrease in prices”, said Ivanov.
The cold of the last few days has hit the cherry harvest in the country. There may not be one this year, farmers said, and if there is, the prices will not please us at all.

„We will import. We are part of the common market and the free flow of goods is a fact. The question is how many cherries will we export, because this weather that we have observed and this unfavorable environment may compromise our record, which is a blow to our economy and producers”, explained Ivanov.
Regarding meat for Easter, he explained that mainly Bulgarian is sought after. „It is sought directly from the farm”, he explained. Ivanov urged people to inform themselves before going shopping.
“Currently, lamb is priced at 24 to 30 leva. This is more or less the situation from last year. There is a good market, with a good competitive environment. Expectations of overpricing are not happening”, said Ivanov.
