A new second attempt at a vote of no confidence is coming next week in parliament. This time the motive is corruption.
Political scientist Dimitar Ganev said in the bTV studio that the government should be happy about this initiative by the opposition. According to him, it shows once again its fragmentation.
„The chronic problem of the parliamentary opposition is that it cannot build a united front. The biggest liability from this vote of no confidence is for PP-DB, because because of the priority of the Eurozone, they cannot support the vote. This is a topic on which they have been constructing their entire rhetoric in opposition to the government not for the last few months, but for several years. "At this very moment, they cannot take advantage of this," Ganev said.
According to Ganev, the final result will be like after the first vote - it will not be successful. He added that a problem for the government can only come from within. The other option is a negative report on the adoption of the euro.
If the introduction of the euro is successful, according to him, the next critical issue is how to preserve the government until October 2026, when the next presidential elections are.
According to Ganev, there is an internal division in Ahmed Dogan's party and two factions - one is more irreconcilable with the government, and the others are more collaborative. Delyan Peevski, in turn, is using the weakness of the formation to attract its cadres to his side. Ganev agreed with the definition of "ruling opposition" for "DPS-New Beginning".
