Over the past 24 hours, the police have identified a total of 32 drivers who got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol - 22 of them were driving with an alcohol concentration of 0.5 to 1.2 per mille, and another 10 - with over 1.2 per mille. Two refused to be tested, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced, BTA reports.
Seven drivers were caught driving under the influence of drugs, and two more refused to be tested.
Within the framework of the specialized police operation to control compliance with the Road Traffic Act, 12,111 motor vehicles were checked. Over 14,082 drivers and passengers were checked. 4188 tickets and 613 acts for established administrative violations were drawn up.
The emphasis in the campaign is on preventing drivers who have consumed alcohol, narcotic substances and/or their analogues from driving, as well as unlicensed drivers.
Over the past 24 hours, 13 road accidents have been registered in the country, in which one person died and 17 were injured. In Sofia, two serious and 26 minor accidents occurred, in which two people were injured.
