Mihail Mikov: I see no reason for the BSP to remain in this government - 1

I see no reason for the BSP to remain in this government! Stability is not a left-wing policy, but there are obviously other reasons that do not imply the socialist party's exit from power. This was commented on by Mihail Mikov, former Speaker of the National Assembly and former leader of the BSP, to the Bulgarian National Radio.

There is no benefit from this participation in the government, except for those who are directly in it, he believes.

"The BSP is participating in an essentially right-wing government. It bears full responsibility for what results from it, it cannot be otherwise. I don't see any particular positive from this, especially when you are such a small partner," explains Mikov.

"I don't know how long the ruling party will be in this situation, in which they both want the support of "DPS-New Beginning" and are somehow ashamed of it. I think this will end soon. Especially the exit of DPS-DPS from the government - it will expose even more and will force the ruling coalition to reconfigure with the explicit support of either DPS-NN or PP-DB. There is no other way out," said the former chairman of the BSP. "The change of government in the US and the signs coming from there are probably making Boyko Borisov make this gesture towards his potential coalition partner Delyan Peevski", Mikov commented on the GERB leader's words to journalists in parliament that Peevski "has not been sanctioned for corruption and the time will come for both him and (Vladislav) Goranov to come out with the truth, as it came out yesterday in Hungary. I advocate for justice and if something was done based on denunciations, it must be dropped".

The opposition and the majority are increasingly taking shape, Mikov pointed out. "Opposition - in the face of the parties that are submitting the vote of no confidence, and since yesterday, the DPS-DPS has also declared its presence in this opposition configuration, and all others that support the government - in one form or another. The PP-DB is not joining this opposition effort for the second time. This will prevent it from declaring itself as an alternative in the future. Abstention from voting is essentially support for the government. They state it clearly - with the motive of "eurozone".
