The National Assembly has received a request from the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov to grant permission to initiate criminal prosecution against Mario Rangelov in pre-trial proceedings under the inventory of the Commission for Combating Corruption and a prosecutorial file under the inventory of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. This was announced by the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova at the beginning of today's plenary session.
Kiselova announced that by a letter dated April 16, 2025, she had notified the member of parliament of the received request and the opportunity to familiarize herself with it and the attached materials.
At the beginning of the year, the parliament refused to lift Mario Rangelov's immunity at the request of the acting Prosecutor General Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.
Mario Rangelov is a member of parliament from the parliamentary group "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" - MRF (DPS-DPS). At the beginning of the week, the MRF-DPS announced that they would no longer support the ruling majority.
Yesterday, during the debates on the vote of no confidence submitted to the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet; Hyusni Adem from the parliamentary group announced that they would support the vote of no confidence submitted by 54 members of parliament from MECH, "Vazrazhdane" and "Velichy".
